What happens at your appointment

Before you arrive

Please book your appointment using our online platform. You can also book by calling 01284 598058.

We recommend using an olive oil preparation (such as Earol) to soften the wax prior for 3-5 days prior to a microsuction appointment - see FAQs

Arrival

Please enter through the main doors.

You can take a seat and the Clarity team member will be out to take you to the treatment suite.

If you are early, please feel free to make use of the cafe.

The appointment

We will ask some simple questions about your health and take verbal consent for the microsuction procedure. We will make you comfortable on the examination couch and begin the examination and wax removal.

Who will see you

All our staff are highly trained professionals in healthcare across medicine, nursing and audiology. You will be informed at the time of your treatment as to the specialist performing your procedure.

What you may feel

The light of the microscope can feel warm on the ear. You may feel a pressure in the ear canal as we introduce the instruments, and we may gently pull on the outer ear to improve the view.

You may hear quite a lot of noise and feel a tickling in your ear. Please let us know if you experience any discomfort.

Ear examination/microsuction may also cause you to cough as a small nerve in the ear is stimulated by the process.

After the appointment

We can advise if you would benefit from further microsuction appointments in the future, and also the time delay needed. We ask that you book this through the online booking page. If any concerns about your ear health are identified, we will recommend a course of action – such as seeing your GP.
